At one point in history, the wedding cake was thrown at the bride and groom as a way for guest to wish fertility onto the new couple. In other areas of the world the groom broke bread over the brides head and guests scrambled for any crumbs that hit the floor, while in Europe a tower of sticky buns was assembled for the bride and groom to try kissing over to ensure prosperity. Today’s tradition of the bride and groom feeding each other is suppose to symbolize the support they will be to each other through the years.
No matter which tradition you choose to emulate on your day taste should not be compromised. A cake should be moist, have texture and a filling that helps pull each component together so the flavors explode in your mouth.
Whatever you decide, remember the cake is the last thing your guest experience at your event.
Enjoy, your dessert..
